    Yes. Anyone who charges a fee to advise or represent you must be authorized. In Canada that means a lawyer, a Quebec notary, or a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants.

    You can verify any consultant on the College’s public register.

    No. You can always apply yourself, and all forms are free on the Government of Canada website. Hiring a representative doesn’t give you priority processing; it helps you submit a stronger, complete application.
